Truly, A Day to Remember

The launch and celebration of A Day to Remember yesterday was a great occasion.  In keeping with the topic of this new book from Jackie French and Mark Wilson, the event was held in the fascinating MacArthur Museum, and featured Mr Robert Chester-Master, a distinguished soldier from the second world war.

Mark Wilson impressed everyone with the drawing he’d done as a nine year old, and with the results he can achieve with his granddaughter’s crayons.  His personal connections to many of the people in the illustrations gave even more depth to the book.

Jackie spoke passionately about the importance of acknowledging and remembering the contribution of Australia’s armed forces personnel to the safety of other countries, and to Australia’s identity since the first world war.  She also brought along some very tasty samples of the Anzac biscuits from the family recipe printed in the book.(For more photos, see the Photos page.)

Jackie enjoyed herself too – here’s what she said:  “Thank you so much for yesterday’s launch- it was wonderful. Book Links is doing the most  perfect occasions. “

Thanks to everyone who came along.  Remember, the next Book Links event is this Saturday, as we launch The Fabulous Finola Fox.
