Romancing the Stars was a fabulous evening full of writing stars, with the added romance of a beautiful sunset at Bulimba on Thursday. It was wonderful to see so many authors and illustrators gathered together, along with such enthusiastic readers. Head over to the Events page, and look under Photos to see Pam’s photos of the event. Here’s one to get you started:
Book Links, together with CBC Qld Branch, and Moreton Bay Region Libraries, are proud to present “What is a literary agent, and do I need one?”
You’ve read the acknowledgment pages and heard all the big authors thank their agents and say how vital their agent is to their success, but what does an agent actually do? And what could an agent do for you? Experienced Agent to children’s and adult authors, Margaret Kennedy, will discuss her work and uncover the secret to finding an agent of your very own.
The AGM will be held this Saturday the 28th September, at the Queensland Writers’ Centre, at 10.30am. The AGM paperwork is attached. Current members are able to vote at the AGM, but all is not lost if your membership has lapsed – the renewal form is included in the attached paperwork.
A planning meeting has been scheduled to follow the AGM, and members are very welcome to stay to help plan for 2014 and beyond.
Sadly we’ve had to cancel the Big Lit Quiz which was to be on Saturday. So if you were planning to come along, please save that enthusiasm for our next event.
Just wanted to remind everyone, especially you teachers, that the deadline for entering your school teams in the Big Lit Quiz is coming closer. This will be a fun-filled event, with the chance for your school to become champions of children’s literature. And all for free! For full details, see Big Lit Quiz Flyer

We have yet another wonderful event for you.
This time it’s the Big Lit Quiz, giving Brisbane schools the chance to show that they are the ultimate kids’ lit masters. Schools are invited to enter up to 3 teams of four year 5,6, or 7 students, to see if they can blitz the competition.
Also competing with be a team of authors, featuring Sherryl Clark, Prue Mason, Sheryl Gwyther and Michael Gerard Bauer. Will they be smarter than the students?? Or will the students show them how it’s done?
Friends, fellow students and families are welcome to egg the teams on from the audience. The lovely ladies from Dymocks North Lakes will be there with supplies of books by Sherryl, Sheryl, Prue and Michael for you to buy – it’s a great chance to get your own copies, and have them autographed.
Exciting news – author Nansi Kunze will be joining the next Book Links meeting for an author meet-and-greet.
